The context

Reporters Without Borders (Reporters Sans Frontières) is one of the world’s leading NGOs in the defense and promotion of freedom of information. Since 2002 RSF has published on a yearly basis its World Press Freedom Index, the most relevant report about free press rights around the globe and with a massive impact and media coverage. The Index ranks 180 countries and regions according to the level of freedom available to journalists, evaluating the level of pluralism, independence of the media, quality of legislative framework and safety of journalists in each country. In partnership with the insurance company Battleface, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) is offering a range of insurance policies for journalists who are RSF members when they travel abroad for the purpose of reporting. It covers war risks and the consequences of acts of terrorism. To acquire the insurance the journalists needed to contact Battleface through mail or phone, then the company could issue quotes and policies manually. In circumstances in which quick deployment in war zones is demanded, this process was not the perfect solution and could be a reason to not contract the services. Relief Applications worked with RSF and Battleface to allow reporters to contract the insurance online, with no additional steps needed.
